During their visit to the University of Iowa, Dr. Svetlana Cociu and Kelly Kulikova had the opportunity to participate in the SAVIR 2024 Annual International Conference, titled “Advancing Injury Prevention Through Community-Engaged Research.”
Hosted by the Injury Prevention Research Center at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, the conference brought together researchers from across the United States to share their findings and emphasize the critical role of collaboration with community partners, local leaders, and other stakeholders in conducting meaningful research.
The conference provided a rich environment for the exchange of ideas and perspectives, particularly in the field of trauma and violence prevention. Attendees benefited from the collective knowledge and experience of their peers, exploring innovative approaches to public health challenges. Dr. Cociu actively contributed to the conference by presenting two posters. The first, “Designing and Implementing a Behavioral Change Model in Road Safety,” was a collaborative effort with colleagues S. Cebanu and A. Cazacu-Stratu. The second, “The Road Injury Surveillance and Prevention Model Among Children and Adolescents,” was co-authored with A. Cazacu-Stratu and S. Cebanu. Both posters were published on the SAVIR conference platform, further disseminating their work.
In addition to the academic sessions, participants visited the historic campus of the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, adding a cultural dimension to their professional experience. A brief summary of the event and its significance was later shared on the official website of the University of Iowa, reflecting the importance of this conference in advancing the field of injury prevention.
