HELLO, MY NAME IS
Bachelor’s studies
Ionela Țurcanu is currently pursuing her Bachelor studies in Public Health at the State University of Medicine and Pharmacy “Nicolae Testemițanu”, in Republic of Moldova. Her research interest is Road Safety, particulary cyclists road safety.
After completing a semester abroad at the Department of Public Health within the Faculty of Political, Administrative, and Communication Sciences at Babes-Bolyai University, I am grateful for the decision to apply. This opportunity to study in a different academic setting offered invaluable insights into the field of public health from an international perspective.
The study program was well-structured, thoughtfully integrating both theoretical knowledge and practical applications. I appreciated the way faculty encouraged students to express their ideas, creating an environment where student involvement in addressing public health issues was valued. Additionally, I discovered various career opportunities available to public health students, which broadened my understanding of potential paths in the field. I also had the chance to network with professionals, attend seminars led by leading public health experts, and participate in workshops focused on current public health challenges.
This experience has significantly enhanced my career in violence and injury prevention by deepening my understanding of the epidemiology of violence and injuries, including their causes and risk factors. I gained valuable skills in designing and implementing intervention programs for violence and injury prevention, which are directly applicable to my work and have prepared me to take on more advanced roles in the field.
Furthermore, I am grateful for the opportunity of participating in the Summer School on Violence and Injury Prevention edition 2024. During the 2024-2025 academic year, I will be focusing on Experiential Learning Project scholarship received as part of the iCREATE project – I’ll report back!
