BIOGRAPHY

Luka Nachkebia, M.D., M.P.H., is a PhD candidate and serves in the administration of the Faculty of Medicine at Tbilisi State University (TSU), where he has been since 2024. He also holds an administrative role for the PhD program in the Faculty of Medicine at TSU and lectures at the Georgian-American University. Mr. Nachkebia earned his M.D. from TSU in October 2022 and his M.P.H., specializing in Public Health Politics and Management, in August 2024. His PhD research focuses on “Musculoskeletal Disorders in Medical Personnel: Prevalence, Risk Factors, Self-Medication, and Occupational & Psychological Impact in Georgia,” with a primary research area in Traumatism Prevention. His broader interests include public health policy, occupational health, and healthcare accessibility. From 2022 to 2025, Mr. Nachkebia volunteered with the UNAG/USAID Health Accessibility and Universality Youth Program, where he conducted seminars and served as an instructor for youth centers on healthcare issues, engaging local populations in Georgia.

My short-term study visit at Babeș-Bolyai University was an enriching and highly rewarding experience. It felt like a productive academic retreat, blending intellectual growth with a serene and inspiring environment. I had the privilege of engaging with exceptionally talented faculty and peers whose expertise in public health was both inspiring and motivating. The program was well-structured, fostering a collaborative atmosphere that encouraged knowledge exchange and personal development. This experience not only broadened my academic perspective but also left me with a deep appreciation for the university’s commitment to excellence in public health education.

iCREATE significantly advanced my career in violence and injury prevention by providing tailored guidance and high-quality education. The faculty’s support was instrumental in helping me develop and refine a clear plan for my PhD thesis, which has given my research a stronger focus. The knowledge and skills I gained were directly applicable to my daily work, enabling me to approach challenges with greater confidence and precision. This experience clarified my professional direction, reinforcing my commitment to advancing prevention strategies and equipping me with a solid foundation to achieve my career goals.

The short-term visit greatly enhanced my research skills, particularly in the area of traumatism prevention, where my understanding deepened through targeted coursework and discussions. The faculty’s expertise and the program’s emphasis on evidence-based approaches improved my ability to analyse and address complex public health issues. Additionally, the collaborative environment opened doors for future partnerships. I forged valuable connections with peers and mentors, and I am eager to pursue joint research projects with them, confident that these collaborations will further advance my work in public health.
